The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, Nigeria is currently inviting applications from qualified and suitable candidates for the position of Physician within its health unit.
Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations to ensure efficiency and adherence to company policies, managing a team of professionals, and implementing strategic initiatives to drive growth. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions. Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of relevant experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity, along with a proven track record of achieving measurable results. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools, as well as a bachelor’s degree in a related field, are essential requirements for this position.
The incumbent in this role will deliver primary, urgent, and emergency outpatient medical care to eligible American employees and their family members. They will also provide emergency and occupational health services to all Mission staff. Patient care will be administered through direct evaluation, examination, and treatment. This position involves assessing the need for hospitalization or medical evacuation and coordinating all aspects of a patient’s care accordingly. The LE Staff physician will share after-hours call responsibilities with the health unit team. Given their influence, the physician will affect the entire Post customer base in multiple ways, including evaluating employees’ fitness for duty, determining their continued suitability for overseas assignments based on medical needs, and making Medieval-related decisions. The Front Office and Management (MNGT) will rely on this role to enhance workplace health, develop policies, and offer guidance on improving overall mission health awareness.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field is required for this role. Equivalent professional experience may also be considered in place of formal education.
A medical degree from an accredited medical school, along with the successful completion of a relevant post-graduate internship, residency, or fellowship program, is mandatory.
A current, valid, and unrestricted medical license to practice within the host country is required and must be maintained throughout the position.
A National Youth Service Corps (NYC) certificate or exemption is mandatory for this position.
