The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, Nigeria, is currently seeking qualified and eligible candidates to fill a Physician position within the health unit.

The incumbent in this role will deliver primary, urgent, and emergency outpatient medical care to eligible American employees and their dependents. In addition, the physician will administer emergency and occupational health services to all Mission staff. Patient care will be provided through direct evaluation, examination, and treatment. This position is responsible for assessing the need for hospitalization or medical evacuation and coordinating all aspects of the patient’s care. The LE Staff physician will share after-hours call duties with other health unit team members. The role carries significant influence across the entire Post community, shaping decisions on employee work capacity, continued suitability for overseas assignments due to health conditions requiring ongoing management, and medical evacuation considerations. Front Office and Management will rely on this position to contribute substantially to workplace wellness initiatives, policy development, and guidance aimed at enhancing the health and well-being of the entire mission.
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, with preference given to candidates holding advanced degrees or specialized certifications pertinent to the role.
A medical degree from an accredited medical school, along with the successful completion of a relevant post-graduate internship, residency, or fellowship, is mandatory.
Must hold and maintain a current, unrestricted medical license valid in the host country.
A National Youth Service Corps (NYC) certificate or exemption letter is mandatory for this position.
