We are currently in the dynamic phase of assembling our inaugural team of educators, content reviewers, and academic leaders to launch our platform. We seek a seasoned arts and humanities educator to spearhead quality assurance and uphold academic integrity in our humanities content from the outset.
The Role
As Head of Department, Arts & Humanities, you will oversee the academic leadership of all non-science content at YES, guiding each stage from script approval to final video review and publication.
You will be responsible for overseeing a range of subjects, including:
Proficiency in English Language and Literature-in-English is required, as is a strong command of written and spoken English. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in analyzing literary texts, understanding historical and cultural contexts, and applying critical thinking skills to interpret complex works. Additionally, familiarity with various literary genres, periods, and theoretical frameworks is essential. Effective communication skills, both in written reports and verbal presentations, are also necessary to convey insights and engage with diverse audiences.
Government, History, and Civic Education encompass the study of political systems, historical developments, and the principles of active citizenship, respectively. This field prepares individuals to analyze complex societal issues, engage in informed public discourse, and contribute meaningfully to democratic governance. Professionals in this discipline often pursue roles in education, policy analysis, legal studies, or public administration, leveraging their expertise to foster civic awareness and informed decision-making. A strong foundation in critical thinking, research methodologies, and ethical reasoning is essential for success in this interdisciplinary domain.
Economics and Commerce encompasses the study and analysis of economic systems, market dynamics, and business operations, focusing on the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. This field examines how individuals, organizations, and governments allocate resources to meet societal needs, while also exploring the principles of trade, finance, and policymaking. Professionals in this domain analyze data, forecast trends, and develop strategies to enhance efficiency, profitability, and sustainable growth. A strong foundation in quantitative methods, statistical analysis, and economic theory is essential, along with proficiency in analytical tools and software. Key responsibilities include conducting research, interpreting market conditions, advising stakeholders, and contributing to policy decisions that drive economic progress and business success.
Christian Religious Studies (CRS) and Islamic Religious Studies (IRS) encompass the examination of Christian and Islamic traditions, respectively, integrating historical, theological, and ethical perspectives to foster a deeper understanding of these faiths. These subjects explore foundational texts, doctrines, and practices, while also addressing contemporary issues and interfaith dialogues. Proficiency in these areas requires analytical thinking, cultural awareness, and an appreciation for diverse religious perspectives. Responsibilities may include teaching, curriculum development, research, and community engagement to promote religious literacy and mutual respect.
Proficiency in Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, and other relevant indigenous languages is required.
Geography, with a focus on humanities, explores the intricate relationships between people and their environments, examining cultural, social, and economic patterns across regions. This field emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, integrating qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze spatial dynamics, societal structures, and environmental interactions. Professionals in this discipline assess how human activities shape landscapes while also investigating the impacts of geographical factors on human behavior and development. A strong foundation in spatial analysis, cultural studies, and social theory is essential, along with proficiency in research methodologies and data interpretation.
