Overview
As a Trainee Accountant, you will collaborate extensively with our Accounting team while offering assistance to internal staff and external clients.
Your responsibilities will encompass supporting daily financial operations, including—but not limited to—data entry, monthly VAT returns, management accounts, annual financial accounts, and tax filings.
As a trainee Accountant, you will receive comprehensive support from the organization, including access to valuable resources and learning tools, as you progress toward achieving Chartered Accountant status.
Our Trainee Accountants are required to achieve full qualification as Chartered Accountants within a three-year period of employment with our firm.
Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of duties, including overseeing key projects, managing daily operations, and ensuring adherence to company standards and policies. You will be tasked with collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency and innovation, while also maintaining strong communication with stakeholders to align on objectives and deliverables. Additionally, you will monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategic solutions to enhance productivity and team effectiveness. Your role will require meticulous attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt to evolving business needs.
We support the preparation of financial and management accounts for the group accounts team.
Facilitating the alignment of client expectations with project timelines and deliverables is a key responsibility. Additionally, supporting the monitoring and adherence to established deadlines is required to ensure timely project completion.
Assisting with the compilation and filing of personal and corporate tax documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
Performing bookkeeping functions such as recording journal entries and reconciling ledgers.
Responsible for meticulously inputting and managing client records with precision using specialized accountancy software.
The preparation of VAT returns and compilation of management accounts are essential responsibilities within this role.
Provides administrative support by managing client interactions, organizing and maintaining files, handling telephone inquiries, and assisting the Accounts team to ensure timely completion of tasks as needed.
Requirements and skills for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, along with a minimum of three years of experience in a related industry. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are critical for collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Additionally, familiarity with project management tools and methodologies, such as Agile or Scrum, is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a keen attention to detail and the capacity to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in managing general ledgers and completing end-of-year financial account preparations would be highly beneficial.
Possesses exceptional analytical abilities along with meticulous attention to detail.
A degree in Accounting or Finance, or partial completion of an Accounting Professional Qualification, would be considered advantageous.
