Role Summary

The Tax and Audit Lead will be responsible for managing the entirety of tax compliance and audit-related activities.

The ideal candidate will fulfill all tax obligations and concurrently seek out strategic avenues for tax savings.

This position will oversee internal audit engagements, verifying adherence to regulatory mandates and organizational benchmarks while ensuring precision in all assessments.

Key Responsibilties

Oversee tax compliance by preparing and reviewing tax returns to ensure adherence to regulations.

Verify that tax deductions are applied correctly and remittances are submitted to vendors promptly.

Conduct internal audit engagements from initial planning through execution to final reporting, ensuring comprehensive coverage of each phase.

Examine financial statements meticulously to verify adherence to established accounting principles and applicable regulatory requirements.

Act as the main liaison for all tax-related questions from both internal teams and external partners.

Build and sustain strong professional relationships while delivering expert tax-related guidance to both internal teams and external clients.

Oversee all communications and interactions with regulatory authorities, including LIES and FIRS, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and maintaining accurate documentation.

Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with 5+ years of progressive experience in software development, including expertise in Python, Java, or C++. Demonstrated proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is essential. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team are required. Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is highly preferred. Excellent communication skills and a passion for continuous learning are also necessary.

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related discipline is required for this position.

CITY membership and any other pertinent accounting certifications must be held.

A minimum of three to five years of professional experience in tax and audit functions is required.

Proficient in interpreting and applying tax laws and regulations, demonstrated by the capability to navigate intricate tax scenarios effectively.

Accomplished verbal and written communication abilities, coupled with a strong aptitude for fostering collaborative relationships, are essential for this role. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in articulating ideas clearly, engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders, and cultivating a positive, professional rapport in all interactions.

Demonstrates exceptional proficiency in analytical reasoning and complex problem resolution.
