The Shipping Officer is tasked with managing all pre- and post-clearance procedures, guaranteeing strict adherence to customs and regulatory mandates, and ensuring precise, timely tracking and reporting of all logistics operations.

Oversee a range of critical duties, including managing daily operations, ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory standards, and maintaining accurate financial records. Lead and mentor a team of professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to drive organizational growth and efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to align objectives and streamline processes. Monitor key performance indicators to assess progress and identify areas for improvement. Serve as a primary liaison between senior leadership and staff, facilitating clear communication and alignment with overarching goals.

Engage with external partners to guarantee the prompt release of consignments, whether transported via sea or air, adhering strictly to established deadlines.

Responsibilities include overseeing all clearance activities for designated third-party agents and conducting daily follow-ups on assigned shipments to verify adherence to both pre- and post-clearance procedures.

Oversee the efficiency of Third Party service providers and submit monthly performance evaluations for their activities.

Daily oversight of in-transit shipments is conducted to verify estimated arrival times, with regular updates provided on their transit status.

Regular follow-ups are conducted with both internal and external stakeholders to obtain necessary clearance documentation and verify its accuracy.

The incumbent must possess comprehensive knowledge of customs procedures, NAFDAC regulations, and SON standards, with the ability to effectively address and resolve any issues arising from interactions with these government agencies.

Ensure prompt follow-ups with third-party agents to evaluate shipments and develop a structured duty payment schedule.

Ensure that all shipments possess the required import permit immediately upon receipt of the pre-alert notice.

The incumbent will process duty payments and ensure duty receipts are obtained within a 48-hour timeframe, followed by diligent follow-up as needed.

Verify NAFDAC costing is completed promptly, and payment processing initiated within 24 hours by confirming all supplied details are accurate and compliant with regulatory standards.

Diligently managing the timely processing of received shipment Pre-Export Inspection (PCI) documentation for online SO NCAP (Standards Organization of Nigeria Conformity Assessment Program) processing, payment, and activation ensures compliance and operational efficiency.

The invoices are reviewed to confirm refund eligibility, followed by the execution of refunds from both shipping lines and terminals.

Prepare and submit comprehensive monthly reports detailing all import-related activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in documentation.

Proficient familiarity with export procedures is essential, as the role encompasses full participation in all export-related tasks and initiatives within the organization.

A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field is required for this position. Candidates must possess a strong academic foundation in their area of expertise, demonstrating the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios. Prior academic achievements should reflect a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as a B.Sc., is required.

Seeking candidates with a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in the relevant field, preferably within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully executing projects from inception to completion, demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability to evolving challenges. Prior experience in team leadership or cross-functional collaboration is highly valued, as is familiarity with industry-specific tools, methodologies, and best practices. Additionally, exposure to key performance metrics, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives will be considered advantageous.

Requires a minimum of three years of professional experience in a relevant discipline.

Proficiency in Power BI is highly advantageous.
