About the MNH-ASSIST Project
The MPH-ASSIST project is designed to enhance the consistent availability, accessibility, utilization, monitoring, and reporting of Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH) bundle commodities across participating health facilities. This initiative will be executed through collaborative partnerships involving multiple Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDS), including the State Ministry of Health (Smog), State Primary Health Care Development Agencies (Spicas), Drug Management Agency/Central Medical Stores (DMA/CMS), health facilities, as well as key partners such as FIELD Intelligence, C4SD, CEPAP, TA Connect, Scalar, and CHAI. The project’s core objectives include ensuring reliable last-mile delivery (LMD) of MNH commodities to facilities, strengthening state-level capabilities for planning, financing, and implementing LMD operations, digitizing Logistics Management Information Systems (LUIS) to provide real-time visibility of logistics data, implementing consumption-driven forecasting and quantification for MNH bundle commodities, and reinforcing Distribution and Replenishment Facility (DRF) programs to maintain a steady supply of essential MNH commodities.
To further enhance accessibility, the initiative seeks to provide cost-effective bundled Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) services to beneficiaries through the utilization of established financing mechanisms—both government and donor-funded—designed to mitigate financial risks for women and their families. These mechanisms encompass national and state health insurance schemes, complimentary or subsidized MNCH services integrated within the BHCPF 2.0 and HOPE-PHC initiatives, as well as state-specific free MNCH programs, where applicable.
