About the MNH-ASSIST Project
The Maternal and Newborn Health Accelerated Scale-Up of Sustainable Supply Chain Interventions and Systems Transformation (MPH-ASSIST) project is designed to enhance the consistent availability, accessibility, utilization, monitoring, and reporting of Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH) bundle commodities within supported health facilities. This objective will be pursued through strategic partnerships involving multiple Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDS) such as the Smog, Spicas, DMA/CMS, health facilities, and collaborating organizations including FIELD Intelligence, C4SD, CEPAP, TA Connect, Scalar, and CHAI, among others. The project’s long-term goals encompass optimizing last-mile delivery (LMD) of MNH commodities to facilities, strengthening state-level capabilities in planning, financing, and implementing LMD operations, modernizing state logistics management information systems (LUIS) to enable real-time logistics data visibility, implementing consumption-driven forecasting and quantification of MNH bundle commodities, and fortifying Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) programs to ensure uninterrupted replenishment of essential MNH supplies.
To further enhance accessibility, the project endeavors to provide cost-effective bundled Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) services to beneficiaries by utilizing established government and donor-funded financing frameworks designed to mitigate financial burdens on women and their families. This approach encompasses national and state-level health insurance schemes, complimentary or subsidized MNCH services integrated into initiatives such as BHCPF 2.0 and the HOPE-PHC project, as well as state-specific free MNCH programs where applicable.
