Job Summary:

The Finance Coordinator/Internal Auditor will oversee financial management and internal audit functions, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational standards. Key requirements include a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, or ARCA, and a minimum of five years of relevant audit experience. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in audit software are essential. The role involves conducting thorough audits, documenting findings, and collaborating with stakeholders to implement corrective actions.

Perform comprehensive financial audits to verify that the organization adheres to all relevant financial regulations and industry standards, ensuring full compliance and operational integrity.

Accomplished in creating and managing budgets across diverse funding streams, coupled with expertise in general ledger operations.

Proficiency in automated accounting software, database management tools, and Management Information Systems is essential for this role.

Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and fosters collaborative relationships to ensure alignment and cohesion among project team members, subcontractors, and aid recipients.

Prepare and present regular reports to supervisors, detailing variances and current status updates, as required.

Demonstrate strong self-motivation and autonomy to efficiently oversee and execute a demanding workload.

Collaborate regularly with FHI employees and consultants, both on-site and in the field.

Proven ability to analyze and interpret budgetary, financial, and other relevant management data effectively.

Education:

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration—or an equivalent qualification such as an HND—is required, along with a minimum of two to four years of relevant professional experience.

A master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or an equivalent field, along with one to two years of relevant professional experience, is required.

Requires at least three to six years of leadership experience in a supervisory capacity, coupled with a strong background in financial management and reporting.

Proficiency in donor grant administration, client-funded initiatives, contracting protocols, and auditing frameworks is essential for ensuring the efficient oversight of multi-year funding initiatives.

Professional qualifications such as ACA, CNA, ARCA, CPA, ALAN, or comparable credentials are essential for this role.

Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks, Sage 50, or ERP systems, is beneficial.

Proficiency in multiple languages is essential for this role, with fluency in at least two languages required—preferably one of which is English. Strong written and verbal communication skills in these languages are critical to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and ensure clarity in all interactions.
