Job Summary:
The ART nurse collaborates closely with clinicians to facilitate the seamless delivery of ART services within the healthcare facility. In this role, the nurse will provide direct support to both the facility’s and the community’s HIV prevention initiatives, while also enhancing the efficiency of referral and linkage systems.
Overseeing critical tasks and fulfilling key responsibilities, the incumbent will be tasked with a range of essential duties that drive organizational success. These include managing core functions, executing strategic initiatives, and ensuring adherence to established guidelines and protocols. The role demands a high level of proficiency in specialized areas, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Additionally, the position requires strong problem-solving skills, adaptability to evolving priorities, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of performance and accountability.
Working in partnership with the facility medical officer, clinicians, pharmacists, laboratory team, and Teas, mentor mothers deliver high-quality, evidence-based services encompassing ART, PMTCT, prevention, and TB care.
Deliver comprehensive HIV testing and counseling services to expectant and nursing mothers, ensuring both maternal and infant health through informed decision-making and supportive guidance.
Ensure the timely diagnosis and ongoing follow-up of infants exposed to HIV.
Facilitate continued engagement of mother-baby pairs within the care program.
Provide guidance and assistance to fellow healthcare professionals to enhance their skills and performance.
Engage in various training programs, attend meetings, and take part in professional development initiatives to enhance skills and knowledge.
Establish and scale up PITCH (Provider-Initiated Testing and Counseling) across all designated healthcare facilities.
Delivers expert nursing care by performing advanced procedures, including dressing changes and other skilled interventions, as required.
Administers medications in strict accordance with prescribed orders and within the defined parameters of the licensee’s authorized scope of practice.
Deliver adherence counseling and facilitate treatment literacy initiatives to ensure optimal patient engagement and understanding.
Participates actively in scheduled team meetings and conferences as required.
May serve as a team lead at our facility, providing support in the delivery and oversight of patient care.
Documents patient observations and medication administration in compliance with established protocols.
Delivers comprehensive education to patients and their families, ensuring they fully understand medical conditions, treatment plans, and care strategies to promote informed decision-making and optimal health outcomes.
Ensure strict compliance with established infection prevention and control protocols to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.

Maintains strict adherence to patient confidentiality protocols to safeguard sensitive information.
The individual is responsible for promptly communicating any substantial alterations in a patient’s physical condition to the registered nurse (RN) and/or the attending medical provider.
Develop and maintain strong connections and seamless referrals for patients both within and beyond the facility.
Collaborate with the prevention coordinator to oversee community program staff, guaranteeing the attainment of objectives and the prompt completion and distribution of reports.
Ensure all services rendered are documented accurately and promptly. Maintain up-to-date registers, electronic medical records (EMR’s), and required reporting tools.
Develop and execute operational research methodologies to address critical inquiries pertaining to AHF’s treatment and prevention initiatives.
Performs additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Seeking candidates with a strong educational background and relevant professional experience in the field. Applicants must possess a degree from an accredited institution and have at least two years of hands-on experience in a related role. Familiarity with industry standards, best practices, and emerging trends is essential for success in this position.
Graduate of a nursing program or holder of an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
Seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Midwife (RM) who holds additional certifications and brings a minimum of five years of professional experience to the role.
Minimum of three years of professional experience in managing HIV-related programs is required.
A comprehensive understanding of Nigeria’s Minimum Prevention Package is indispensable.
Must possess exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Proficient in crafting clear, concise reports and delivering information with precision and professionalism.
Professional Rewriting:
Demonstrates a strong commitment to maintaining ethical standards and protecting the confidentiality of clients dealing with HIV/AIDS-related matters.
Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint is required.
