A distinguished Afro fusion restolounge in Kate, Lagos, is seeking a Head Chef who demonstrates both formal culinary expertise and an innovative creative approach. Candidates must meet stringent standards of excellence; applications will only be considered from applicants who possess a qualification from a reputable culinary institution.

What you will do:

Develop and oversee the entire menu, ensuring every stage from inception to delivery reflects the rich essence of Afro fusion cuisine.

Continuously innovate and introduce new culinary creations, including seasonal specials and immersive tasting experiences, to showcase creativity and cultural richness.

Direct supervision of the culinary team will be your responsibility, ensuring each member performs at their peak while upholding the highest standards of food quality and presentation for every dish served. Your leadership will guide daily operations, fostering a collaborative environment where consistency and excellence are the foundation of every plate delivered to guests.

Cultivate a culture characterized by discipline, accountability, and ongoing improvement among all kitchen personnel.

Facilitate ongoing training initiatives to enhance the team’s proficiency in techniques, standards, and newly introduced menu offerings.

Oversee the precise tracking and management of kitchen inventory, encompassing stock levels, procurement processes, supplier coordination, and efforts to minimize waste.

Compile concise, punctual reports on kitchen performance, food costs, stock levels, and operational issues for management review.

Responsible for managing food cost analysis, overseeing kitchen budget allocations, and ensuring menu profitability in partnership with the restaurant manager.

Ensure adherence to rigorous standards in food preparation, presentation, hygiene, and portion control at all times.

Maintain strict adherence to all food safety and health regulations at all times to uphold operational standards.

Be physically present at the workplace for a minimum of five days each week. This position demands direct, onsite leadership within the kitchen environment rather than remote supervision.

What we are looking for:

A recognized culinary school diploma is required, with no exceptions.

With at least seven years of professional kitchen experience, including three years in a Head Chef or Executive Chef position, you will bring a strong foundation of culinary expertise to this role.

Demonstrates extensive experience in Afro fusion culinary arts, supported by a well-documented collection of innovative menu concepts.

Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively, demonstrated through the successful development of high-performing kitchen staff.

Possesses a strong aptitude for training, with a proven track record in onboarding and enhancing the skills of kitchen personnel across all levels.

Requires strong reporting capabilities to precisely and reliably monitor expenses, inventory levels, and kitchen efficiency metrics on an ongoing basis.

Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of food costing, kitchen budgeting, and stock control methodologies.

A strong commitment to innovation, coupled with the drive to challenge conventional limits while maintaining fidelity to the core idea.

Individuals must exhibit meticulous attention to cleanliness, maintain a polished appearance, and demonstrate unwavering self-discipline in all professional interactions and responsibilities.
