The position entails overseeing a range of strategic initiatives designed to enhance operational efficiency and drive organizational growth. The Associate will serve as the principal liaison for Tope Debate LP at the Abuja office, entrusted with cultivating and maintaining client relationships, providing exceptional legal services, and elevating the firm’s standing within the Federal Capital Territory. This position encompasses a broad spectrum of Corporate & Commercial and Dispute Resolution matters, covering legal advisory, corporate governance, company secretarial duties, regulatory compliance, transactional support, and litigation or regulatory representation. The Associate will oversee daily branch operations and represent the Firm at external events, working in close coordination with Partners and colleagues in Lagos to address intricate legal challenges and transactions.

Seeking a candidate with a proven track record in [specific field, e.g., project management, software development, etc.], supported by relevant certifications or educational credentials. Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, complemented by a minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience. Proficiency in advanced Excel, QuickBooks, or similar financial software is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills for interacting with stakeholders and collaborating across departments are required. Candidates must demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, a commitment to accuracy, and the capacity to meet tight deadlines. Prior experience in financial reporting, auditing, or tax preparation is highly desirable.

An LL.B degree with at least a Second Class Upper Division, coupled with a B. L from the Nigerian Law School, is required; possession of an LL.M, MBA, or relevant professional certifications is advantageous.

A minimum of five to eight years’ experience in post-qualification roles at a reputable commercial law firm is required, with proven expertise spanning Corporate & Commercial and Dispute Resolution practice areas.

Possesses exceptional academic credentials and a proven history of successfully handling intricate legal matters autonomously.

Technical and Practice Skills encompass a comprehensive understanding of industry-specific methodologies, tools, and frameworks essential for executing specialized tasks. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in implementing relevant technologies, adhering to established standards and protocols, and troubleshooting complex issues to ensure operational efficiency. These skills also entail staying current with emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements to maintain compliance and drive innovation. Additionally, the ability to analyze technical specifications, develop practical solutions, and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams is crucial for achieving project objectives.

Experienced professionals with a strong track record in corporate law, commercial transactions, regulatory advisory, and civil/commercial litigation are sought.

Exceptional proficiency in legal drafting, negotiation, advocacy, and analytical reasoning, demonstrated through the capacity to deliver succinct, accurate, and commercially oriented work.

We possess a strong understanding of Nigeria’s legal and regulatory frameworks, encompassing CAME 2020, SOFIA, the Investments and Securities Act, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, and other relevant sector-specific regulations.
