MSHE Homes Limited is in search of a meticulous Cost Accountant to deliver precise cost analysis, maintain rigorous financial oversight, and provide detailed contract cost reporting for the company’s diverse real estate development and construction initiatives.
Oversee a comprehensive range of duties encompassing strategic planning, operational execution, and team leadership, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Monitor and oversee all expenditures related to construction and real estate agreements, verifying that costs remain within the allocated financial limits set by management.
Review contractor and subcontractor invoices, progress claims, and payment certificates to ensure their accuracy by meticulously cross-checking them against the agreed-upon contract schedules and the completed work.
Prepare and maintain accurate contract cost schedules, cash flow projections, and cost-to-complete estimates for every active development project.
Evaluate contract modifications, change orders, and claims while determining their financial implications and providing strategic guidance to the Contract Management team.
Proactively detect and report any cost overruns, financial irregularities, or potential risks, promptly suggesting corrective measures to mitigate these issues.
Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and project-end cost reports that provide detailed comparisons between budgeted and actual financial performance, analyze key variances, and identify potential financial risks.
Perform comprehensive cost evaluations encompassing materials, labor, plant operations, and overhead expenses to facilitate well-informed financial decision-making.
Reconcile contract costs within the accounting system, verifying their precise allocation to designated project cost centers and general ledger accounts.
Assist in the development and oversight of project budgets while performing continuous variance analysis and proposing measures to optimize cost control.
Assist in evaluating contractors and suppliers by examining Bills of Quantities (BOQ’s), pricing schedules, and rate analyses to verify cost-effectiveness and ensure optimal value for money.
Verify that all contract-related cost transactions are accurately recorded and fully adhere to company financial policies, accounting standards, and Nigerian regulatory mandates.
Facilitate internal and external audit activities by furnishing precise cost information, thorough documentation, and complete financial records as mandated.
Seeking a highly skilled professional with expertise in data analysis, proficiency in statistical software, and a minimum of five years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication abilities, a keen eye for detail, and the capacity to collaborate effectively within a team environment. Responsibilities include interpreting complex datasets, generating actionable insights, and presenting findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. Additionally, the role demands the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines and maintaining high standards of accuracy. A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, such as mathematics, statistics, or economics, is required, and prior experience in a similar analytical role is strongly preferred.
A relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, Quantity Surveying, or a closely aligned field, such as a Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND), is required.
Professional certification or membership in ICAN, ARCA, CIA, or NILS would be considered an additional asset.
A minimum of three to five years of professional experience in cost accounting or project cost control is required, with a preference for candidates from the construction or real estate sectors.
Proven expertise in evaluating Bills of Quantities (BOQ’s), assessing contract valuations, and certifying contractor payments is required.
Proficient in advanced Microsoft Excel, accounting software, and ERP systems; possesses sound knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations, including Withholding Tax (WHT) and Value Added Tax (VAT), specifically as they apply to construction contracts.
