ABOUT THE JOB:

The Mainstreaming Officer will oversee the timely and high-quality execution of field-level activities, receiving technical guidance from the coordinator. This role involves managing the team and ensuring the program operates seamlessly in close collaboration with other Protection actors. Additionally, the Mainstreaming Officer will uphold a survivor-centered approach, guaranteeing that GBV survivors and other vulnerable women and girls receive prompt and comprehensive services.

Oversee and execute key operational duties, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and industry standards. Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, enhance productivity, and drive measurable outcomes. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to optimize workflows, mitigate risks, and foster innovation within the department. Serve as a liaison to senior leadership, providing data-driven insights and recommendations to inform critical decision-making. Manage resources efficiently, balancing budgetary constraints with high-performance deliverables to maximize ROI. Monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to sustain operational excellence. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and best practices to uphold legal and ethical standards. Cultivate a culture of accountability, professional development, and continuous improvement among team members.

The Mainstreaming Officer will undertake responsibilities encompassing, but not limited to, the following, along with any related duties that naturally fall within the scope of those explicitly outlined:

Collaborate effectively with designated safeguarding and protection specialists to uphold the integrity and safety of all programs, ensuring they are delivered with the utmost dignity and care.

Guarantee the incorporation of essential cross-cutting themes—including gender, age, disability, protection, safeguarding, accountability, and conflict sensitivity—into all operational sectors, such as food security, WASH, shelter, and health.

Support the Coordinator in administering child protection and gender-based violence (GBV) assessments with the Inter-agency Child Protection Assessment Resource Toolkit, tailoring the tool as needed for GBV survivors. Collaborate with other Save the Children thematic areas, national and district-level Child Protection Working Groups, and external GBV sector agencies to ensure accurate documentation of assessment findings.

Ensure humanitarian programs prioritize the well-being and safety of affected populations by preventing harm, safeguarding their dignity and rights, and actively mitigating protection risks.

Facilitate secure and inclusive access to services for women, children, older adults, individuals with disabilities, and members of minority groups.

Enhance staff competencies to deliver direct and tailored support services to gender-based violence (GBV) survivors.

Perform gender, protection, or inclusion analyses and assessments to guide the development of program plans.

Provide assistance in incorporating gender-based violence cases into existing child protection case management frameworks, including CPMs, CFS, and PSS systems.

Ensure that survivors of gender-based violence are promptly identified and receive counseling, as well as other necessary support services.

Establish and enforce the use of appropriate referral forms to ensure proper implementation and adherence to established protocols.

Coordinate monthly meetings, including the Parent’s Forum and the Child Protection Committee.

Deliver critical psychosocial first aid interventions to both children and adults as required.

Lead efforts to prevent and respond to sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) and gender-based violence within project communities.

Mentor, supervise, and oversee the implementation of programs addressing gender-based violence, while developing and maintaining a monitoring action plan to ensure quality control.

Perform or facilitate Gender and Inclusion Assessments to guide the development of program strategies.

Champion the active integration of women, girls, persons with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups into all phases of project planning, execution, and decision-making, ensuring their meaningful participation and equitable representation.

Perform any additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Assist with additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by your supervisor from time to time.

Participated in comprehensive trainings focused on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and remains well-informed about critical protection concerns.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least 3 years of hands-on experience in a similar role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The ideal applicant must demonstrate excellent communication abilities and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Understanding of project management principles and prior leadership experience are advantageous. Additionally, familiarity with regulatory compliance and a commitment to continuous professional development are expected.

A bachelor’s degree in psychology, social sciences, public health, nursing, or a related field from an accredited tertiary institution is required, along with a minimum of two years of demonstrated field experience in a comparable role or related capacity.
