Job Summary
We are in search of a skilled and meticulous Technical Design Officer to contribute to the design, development, and enhancement of automotive products and components.
The ideal candidate will prepare technical drawings, support product development initiatives, perform design analysis, and work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure all designs adhere to quality, safety, and manufacturing standards.
Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties encompassing strategic planning, operational execution, and performance evaluation to ensure organizational objectives are met with precision and efficiency. Lead cross-functional teams in the implementation of initiatives, fostering collaboration and innovation to drive productivity and achieve measurable results. Develop and maintain robust policies, procedures, and frameworks to uphold compliance, mitigate risks, and enhance operational integrity. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide data-driven insights to senior leadership, enabling informed decision-making and continuous improvement. Serve as a liaison between departments, stakeholders, and external partners to align efforts, resolve conflicts, and facilitate seamless communication. Additionally, mentor and develop team members through coaching, training, and performance management to cultivate a high-performing and motivated workforce.
Develop and maintain accurate engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Collaborate on the conceptualization, engineering, and integration of vehicle components, systems, and assemblies to meet performance and safety standards.
Develop and refine two-dimensional and three-dimensional models with the assistance of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
Facilitate the advancement, assessment, and verification of prototype iterations to ensure alignment with specified requirements and performance benchmarks.
Conduct comprehensive design reviews to identify opportunities for optimization, subsequently recommending enhancements that bolster product performance and streamline manufacturability.
Work collaboratively with production, quality assurance, procurement, and engineering teams to ensure adherence to design specifications.
Ensure adherence to company protocols, automotive industry regulations, and mandatory safety standards.
Provide support in performing engineering calculations, feasibility studies, and technical analyses.
Ensure meticulous documentation and up-to-date records of all design modifications and project-related files.
Keep abreast of the latest advancements in automotive technologies, materials, and design trends to ensure your knowledge remains current and relevant.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of experience in software development or a comparable role. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ is essential, and familiarity with databases like MySQL or MongoDB is required. Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work effectively in a team environment are also necessary. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends.
A Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechatronics Engineering, or an equivalent discipline is required.
Seeking candidates with 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in technical design, engineering design, or product development, ideally within the automotive or manufacturing sectors.
Experience with leading CAD software platforms, including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CARIA, Crew, and comparable design solutions, is required.
Proficient in interpreting and applying engineering drawing standards and manufacturing processes.
Analytical acumen, problem-solving capabilities, and technical proficiency are essential attributes for this role.
Demonstrates a keen eye for precision and a systematic approach to managing tasks and resources.
Skilled in effective communication and collaborative teamwork, demonstrating the ability to engage clearly with colleagues and stakeholders while fostering a cooperative and productive work environment.
Demonstrates strong competency in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite applications effectively.
A professional engineering certification would be considered beneficial.
