ABOUT THE JOB:

The Mainstreaming Officer will oversee the prompt and high-quality execution of field-level activities, supported technically by the coordinator. They will lead the team and guarantee seamless program operations through close collaboration with other Protection actors. Additionally, they will uphold a survivor-centered approach, ensuring GBV survivors and other vulnerable women and girls receive timely and comprehensive services.

Overseeing and leading a range of critical responsibilities, this role encompasses strategic planning, project execution, and team coordination to ensure seamless operations and optimal performance. The position demands meticulous attention to detail in monitoring progress, analyzing data, and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity. Additionally, the role involves fostering collaboration across departments, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring adherence to organizational policies and industry standards. Strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and a results-driven mindset are essential to drive continuous improvement and achieve key business objectives.

The Mainstreaming Officer will be tasked with fulfilling the following duties, which encompasses additional responsibilities not explicitly listed but inherently related to those outlined.

Collaborate effectively with safeguarding and protection specialists to uphold programming standards that prioritize safety and dignity.

Integrate essential cross-cutting themes—including gender, age, disability, protection, safeguarding, accountability, and conflict sensitivity—into all sectoral initiatives, such as food security, WASH, shelter, and health.

The role involves assisting the Coordinator in performing child protection and gender-based violence (GBV) assessments through the Inter-agency Child Protection Assessment Resource Toolkit, adapting the tool as needed for GBV survivors. Collaboration with other Save the Children thematic areas, the national or district Child Protection Working Group, and external GBV sector agencies is essential to ensure accurate documentation of assessment findings.

Your role involves safeguarding humanitarian programs to prevent harm, uphold the dignity, rights, and safety of vulnerable populations, and proactively minimize protection risks.

Dedicate efforts to ensuring equitable and secure access to services for women, children, older adults, individuals with disabilities, and members of minority communities.

Enhance staff proficiency in delivering tailored, compassionate assistance to survivors of gender-based violence, ensuring services are both accessible and responsive to their needs.

Perform gender, protection, or inclusion analyses and assessments to guide the development of program plans.

Assist in seamlessly incorporating gender-based violence cases into existing child protection case management frameworks, including CPMs, CFS, and PSS.

Ensure that survivors of gender-based violence are promptly identified and receive counselling and other suitable support services in a timely manner.

Implement and maintain the necessary referral forms to ensure seamless integration within established procedures.

Coordinate monthly meetings, which encompass both the Parent’s Forum and the Child Protection Committee, to facilitate effective communication and decision-making.

Deliver critical psychosocial first aid interventions to children and adults as required.

Provide strategic direction and oversight for the prevention of, and response to, sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) and gender-based violence within project communities.

Mentor, supervise, and oversee the implementation of gender-based violence initiatives while developing a monitoring action plan to ensure quality control.

Perform or facilitate Gender and Inclusion Assessments to guide the development of program strategies.

Champion the meaningful integration of women, girls, persons with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups into all phases of project planning, implementation, and decision-making processes, ensuring equitable participation and representation.

Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor to support operational needs.

Carry out additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by a supervisor on an ongoing basis.

Experienced with BRIMS and case management systems, with a proven track record of effectively managing sensitive information and coordinating case interventions. Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing BRIMS for data collection, tracking, and reporting, while ensuring adherence to ethical and confidentiality standards. Skilled in developing and implementing case management protocols to enhance service delivery and client outcomes.

Accommodating and eager to operate within rural environments, with a preference for on-site assignments, this position demands adaptability to remote locations and field-based responsibilities.

Completed relevant training sessions focused on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and possesses a comprehensive understanding of protection-related concerns.

Proven leadership in overseeing teams or projects, demonstrating responsibility for guiding staff performance, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining productivity standards. Strong ability to mentor, delegate tasks, and resolve conflicts while upholding organizational goals and fostering a collaborative work environment. Self-starter

A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is required for this role. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is essential, along with experience in software development and debugging. Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, and system design principles is also necessary. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are mandatory to address complex technical challenges effectively. Excellent communication abilities are required to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Prior experience in a similar position is preferred, though not strictly required for all applicants.

A bachelor’s degree in psychology, social sciences, public health, nursing, or a related field from an accredited tertiary institution is required, along with at least two years of demonstrated professional experience in a comparable role or relevant field.
