Welding Supervisor

Brief Description

The candidate is expected to organize, coordinate and supervise the work of section leads and their employees within the fabrication and welding unit to ensure an effective and efficient fabrication operation that meets safety, quality, and production standards.

Duties

Assign work to Section Leads to attain department objectives using knowledge of production processes, company policies, production schedules, work orders, equipment capacity and employee capabilities.
Readily perceive and effectively respond to schedules and product flows essential to supervising highly productive, cost-effective, quality-oriented manufacturing operations.
Establish and control procedures to meet production schedules.
Oversee daily job responsibilities of the Section Leads.
Recommends and initiates improvements to production processes with the aim to increase manufacturing efficiency.
Establish and control procedures to ensure production of conforming fabricated assembly components.
Monitors and controls established procedures to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Ensure an effective and accurate production line that minimizes costs and aligns with the unit objectives.
Establishes and monitors cost control systems to achieve unit budget objectives.
Provides training, support, direction and guidance to unit employees to continually develop their work habits, job skills and safety practices.
Communicate job expectations and performance requirements to Section Leads.
Ensure good understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings and plan layout specifications by Section Leads. 
Gather and analyse information from Section Leads to identify root causes and troubleshooting issues face on production line.
Coordinate with Maintenance department on daily maintenance priorities, future maintenance, and engineering projects.
Participate in succession planning for personal growth as well as development of Section Leads and employees.
Ensure materials are received early by all sections for week plan.
Run reports in AX/DOLPHIN to track and move material throughout the Departments to support on-time delivery.
Report the progress of production flow to Production Manager.
Take up IMS responsibilities such as reporting unsafe act, condition or procedure in the workplace, participating in fire or emergency drill at work, participating in incident reporting and investigation when necessary and adherence to Company policies.

Able to read and interpret welding process 
Able to understand and apply workplace safety procedures
Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment required
Able to manipulate tools and assembly components involving fine and gross motor skills sufficient to demonstrate welding job tasks
Strong stamina and physical strength.
Excellent coordination and team work skills

Able to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
Strong reporting skills
Strong attention to details

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent. Welding & Fabrication Engineering or equivalent is a plus.  Min 7-8 years of proven work experience in an Industrial/ Manufacturing environment.
