Job Location: Maiduguri
Beginning of contract: 14/08/2017
Contract duration: 5 months (with possibility of extension) – Probation period: 1 month
Salary and conditions: in accordance with SI’s Terms of Employment; for national staff in Nigeria
Mission/Objectives:
Implement, monitor and report water quality analysis of SI programs,
Ensure the operation and the maintenance of SI laboratory,
Provide full support and training to WASH staffs involved in analysis activities on the field,
Insure personal flexibility (emergency phase), involvement and respect
Main Task :
Water quality analysis:
Complete analysis of water samples collected as well as provided by the field teams according to procedures defined by the managers,
Fill the water analysis results sheets and communicate them to the PM assistant of the concerned base and to the MEAL Advisor assistant,
Organise and plan the sampling of water from water points of SI programs under the supervision of the Maiduguri PM assistant Ensure that assigned activities are implemented according to program work plan and methodology validated by the management,
Operation of the laboratory:
Secure the material of water analysis activities on a daily bases,
Ensure the maintenance and the proper operating of all SI material related to water analysis,
Manage the stock of chemicals & materials under the supervision of his/her direct supervisor and support on anticipating, preparing the order for the new purchase
Reporting / communication / representation :
Produce a weekly report to managers regarding activities progress and analysis results according to formats,
Coordinate with support staff (logistic and administration) + all WASH staff involved on the program.
Personal abilities :
Professional experience: 2 year of experience in similar position (NGO/Private or Public sector)
Languages: English, Haussa
Personal qualities: detail oriented, follows protocol, reliable, honest, very good organization, multi-tasking, team player
Technicalcompetences :
Training: Biology, Chemistry, or other hard science with lab skills
Project related skills : database management, lab report writing
Experience using Wagtech, and/or other water analysis equipment (microbiological and physiochemical)
