Warehousing Officer – Asset Management

Objective

The Warehousing Officer will oversee the effective management, tracking, and maintenance of large assets and equipment on the mining site. This role involves ensuring the accurate recording, safe storage, and proper utilization of high-value assets, aligning with operational needs and company policies. The Warehousing Officer will also play a critical role in optimizing inventory levels, reducing downtime caused by asset unavailability, and maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Asset Management

Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all large assets, including heavy-duty machinery, trucks, spare parts, and tools.
Ensure proper documentation for asset receipt, storage, issuance, and return.
Conduct regular physical audits to verify asset location, condition, and status.
Generate regular reports on asset utilization, inventory levels, and discrepancies.
Maintain accurate records of all transactions and provide updates to relevant stakeholders.

Warehouse Operations

Organize and maintain the warehouse to ensure the safe and efficient storage of assets.
Implement and oversee inventory control systems to manage stock levels effectively.
Coordinate with the operations and procurement team to ensure timely dispatch and return of assets.

Asset Maintenance Coordination

Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager to schedule inspections and preventive maintenance for stored assets.
Monitor asset lifecycle and flag equipment nearing the end of its operational efficiency.

Compliance and Safety

Ensure all warehousing and asset management activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Implement procedures for safe handling and storage of heavy equipment and machinery.

Procurement Support

Liaise with the procurement team to forecast asset and inventory needs based on operational demands.
Support in the sourcing and acquisition of high-value equipment and spare parts.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in warehousing or asset management, preferably in the mining or industrial sector.
Proficiency in inventory management systems and software (e.g., SAP, ERP).
Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management and heavy equipment operations.
