Upper Primary Teacher

Job Description

As an Upper Primary Teacher, you will be responsible for educating students in key subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Science, Social Studies, and other core curriculum areas.
You will foster an engaging learning environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and academic achievement.
Your role will include lesson planning, classroom management, student assessment, and collaborating with colleagues and parents to ensure the holistic development of each child.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the Nigerian curriculum.
Use a variety of teaching methods and strategies to engage students and accommodate different learning styles.
Assess and monitor students’ progress through regular assignments, tests, and observations.
Maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes discipline and respect.
Provide timely feedback to students on their academic performance and personal development.
Prepare and maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
Collaborate with other teachers to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
Organize extracurricular activities and contribute to school events as required.
Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about student progress and well-being.
Maintain professional development through ongoing training and learning.

Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed), Primary Education, or related field.
A teaching qualification (e.g., NCE, PGDE) is a plus.
At least 2-3 years of teaching experience, preferably in upper primary school grades.
Strong knowledge of the Nigerian and British curriculum and educational frameworks.
Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to handle diverse classroom settings.
Proficient in the use of educational technology to enhance teaching and learning.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
Passion for teaching and helping students succeed academically and personally.
Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to diverse classroom challenges.

Must have a clear criminal background check and be able to provide references.
