University Librarian

Responsibilities

Statutorily, the University Librarian is a Principal Officer responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University Library Services.
The officer is also responsible for the implementation of the policy of the University with respect to the development of the Library Services centrally and at the levels of Faculties, Departments and Academic Units.

Qualifications Candidates shall possess the following qualifications and qualities:

Ability to provide good Leadership to subordinates and be of sound moral character;
A relevant Ph.D. degree;
A good knowledge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), including Library Automation;
A good record of scholarly publications in reputable Journals and other media;
Shall be on the rank of a Deputy University Librarian or equivalent in the Tertiary Education System;
Shall have a minimum of 15 years cognate experience and the capacity to initiate research; and
Shall not be above the age of 60 at the point of assumption of duty.

Conditions of Service

The salary and other conditions of services shall be in accordance with what is obtainable in the Nigerian University System.
