Territorial Distribution Officer

Job Description

The Territorial Distribution officer (TDO) is to coordinate and direct distribution activities in his assigned territory.
He is to forecast and plan the distribution of scriptures and other related materials across the assigned territory in accordance with the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) Strategic Direction.
He assists the DM in Product Development, Marketing Research, and other Distribution activities.

Responsibilities

Directly responsible and accountable to the Distribution Manager [DM].

Relationship
Internal:

The TDO relates with the Dept Officer in his territory. He relates with all departments and divisions of the organisation, especially the Finance, Human Resources Division, Audit, Publishing, and the BSN within his assigned territory.

External:

Distributors and other major customers such as:
Theological Seminaries.
Churches and other related organizations.
Bible and Government agencies (NCC, NPA, NPF etc.).
Customers and Bible Shop/Stores within the Northeast and beyond.

Occupational Characteristics of the Role:

Leadership – Demonstrates provides strong leadership at influencing improved Bible distribution performance by the BSN Areas in the territory and increased persistent patronage by the customers to achieve organisational goals in line with the its vision and mission statements.
Punctuality – prompt positioning of products to distribution outlets and customers in the assigned territory.
Forecasting and Planning – accurate and comprehensive data-inclined forecasting and effective distribution planning to keep distribution pipeline full all year round.
Analytical Mind – requires ability to analyze and interpret distribution research reports, market development and needs correctly. Also, environmental analytical skills.
Numerical Skills – must have flair for figures and product codes.
Conceptual Skills – ability to formulate strategies that stimulate distribution growth and expansion.
Creativity and Innovation – ability to assist in developing new products as quickly as possible to meet market needs or to counter competitors’ activities.
Self-Confident/Integrity – high standard of transparency and honesty required in all aspect of business transaction.

Knowledge of:

Diversity of the Nigerian Bible market, especially in the North.

Manage the Distribution chain effectively.
Interpret and contribute to marketing development activities at the local, regional and global level of UBS.
Sustain a healthy and profitable relationship with the Customers.
Use Marketing Mix to deliver strategic marketing results.
Speak Hausa language very fluently so as to relate well with the people in the axis,

The Job (Key Responsibilities):

The candidate is responsible for Planning, Forecasting, and implementation of marketing programmes in a way that facilitates distribution and creates warehouse space.
The candidate is responsible for identifying the product (Bible) needs of the current and prospective market and customers, positioned the products strategically to meeting the identified needs in a way that facilitates distribution and creates warehouse space.
To ensure a broad customer base by developing more markets, and sound customer relationship management i.e. He is responsible for Customer Relationship Management by visiting customers’ outlets and relating to them on the phone. He is also responsible for the organisation of the customer service forum in his region for productive engagement in a mutually rewarding manner.
Ensure good inventory management of the Society’s Scripture stock.
He is responsible for expanding the customer base by developing new customers and her channels of distribution.
The candidate for this job must be creative in product development and innovation and possessanalytical skills. S/he should have good numerical and human relations skills.
Keep monthly and annual data of brand performance in his territory; and send monthly reports of territory customers’ performance for management decision making.
Prepare the annual territorial distribution plan by brands for integration into the corporate annual distribution plan based on the Strategic Direction and Operational Direction.

Qualifications

Must have HND /BSc in Marketing, Business Administration, or any other relevant discipline. Membership of a recognized marketing or related professional body is required.

Years of Relevant Experience Required:

Minimum of 3 years cognate experience.

Creating other channels of distribution other than the traditional ones.
