Job Description
Reporting to the Divisional Head of Operations and Technical Services the job holder will be expected to organise the technical services department and in particular, control resources and utilise assets at a level commensurate with profit targets.
Key Responsibilities
Determine adequate stocking level of spares for all equipment
Develop facilities maintenance schedule to ensure that the physical environment of the terminal is kept clean and neat at all times
Develop periodic maintenance schedule for all terminal equipment and facilities
Ensure Plants and Equipment downtimes are minimized by carrying out proper preventive maintenance and repairs on plants and equipment
Ensure that all equipment maintenance are properly recorded with detailed costs allocation
Ensure that normal and preventive maintenance schedules are soundly entrenched within the department and corporate cultures of the company
Ensure that quality management requirements and standards are met
Ensure that the facilities conform with prescribed environmental standards at all times
Establish and maintain an organized department structure with detailed job descriptions and work procedures
Formulate maintenance policy for the company and monitor implementation
Maintain a full record of each equipment history (plant data; year of purchase; dates of overhauling, refurbishments and regular maintenance, etc)
Manages or participates in enterprise or operational/Technical Projects as directed by the GM
Monitor and keep performance record of all terminal equipment
Plan and organize for adequate supply of diesel for all equipment as well as the entire facilities
Plan, forecast and place orders (through the Finance/Admin department) for spare parts and consumables with adequate provision for minimum inventory levels to ensure continuity of operations
Prepare the budget of the workshop unit in co-ordination with Head of Operations
Supervise the activities of the maintenance teams and ensure that equipment and facilitates are adequately maintained
Regularly monitor the diesel consumption of the plants and generators.
Qualifications & Experience
10 to 14 years quality work experience
5 years of hands on proven experience in line and people management role.
Degree in Engineering or any Technical related courses
Working knowledge of port and shipping industry is of critical advantage
