Technical Procurement Manager

Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Technical Procurement Manager to oversee the procurement operations for our Engineering Telematics Unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies for engineering products, systems, and services, with a strong focus on telematics technology. They will work closely with engineering teams to understand technical requirements, manage supplier relationships, and ensure cost-effective, high-quality procurement.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute procurement strategies for telematics and engineering products, including sensors, telematics modules, connectivity solutions, and related hardware/software components.
Identify, evaluate, and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, pricing, and delivery terms.
Conduct regular supplier performance reviews to ensure quality, reliability, and competitiveness.
Collaborate with engineering teams to define product specifications and procurement requirements.
Conduct technical evaluations of suppliers and products to ensure compliance with industry standards and project needs.
Identify cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing and negotiations without compromising quality or timelines.
Implement procurement initiatives to optimize spending while maintaining high technical standards
Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, quality issues, and vendor performance.
Develop contingency plans to manage unforeseen supply challenges.
Lead contract negotiations, ensuring all agreements comply with legal and corporate standards.
Manage contract terms, and renewals, and ensure adherence to supplier obligations.
Work closely with engineering and project management teams to understand technical requirements and timelines
Ensure timely procurement to meet project milestones and deliverables.
Ensure procured components and systems meet or exceed specifications.
Collaborate with quality assurance teams to manage product testing, inspections, and certifications.
Stay up to date with advancements in telematics technology, market trends, and new product offerings.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
A Master’s degree or relevant certification in procurement or supply chain management is an added advantage.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement within an engineering or telematics-focused environment.
Strong understanding of telecommunications, electronics, and telematics systems.
Experience in technical sourcing and procurement of engineering products and services.
Strong negotiation, contract management, and vendor relationship skills.
In-depth knowledge of contract law, supplier management processes, and industry regulations.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office tools.
Experience in the automotive, IoT, or telematics industries.
Knowledge of supply chain management principles and lean procurement techniques.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards for telematics and electronics.
