Team Lead, Light Vehicle Mechanic

Job Summary

The Lead Light Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a variety of light vehicles, including cars, buses, and light trucks. 
This role also involves leading and mentoring a small team of mechanics, ensuring high-quality workmanship and efficient workflow within the workshop. 
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, excellent leadership abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in light vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, and HVAC systems.
Perform routine maintenance services, such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire rotations, and brake inspections, according to manufacturer specifications.
Supervise and mentor a small team of mechanics, providing guidance, training, and support. Delegate tasks effectively and monitor team performance.
Ensure all work is performed to a high standard of quality and adheres to safety regulations and company procedures. Conduct final inspections of completed work.
Utilize diagnostic equipment and technical manuals to identify and resolve complex vehicle issues.
Work hand-in-hand with Supply Chain for ordering and managing parts inventory, ensuring availability of necessary components.
Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including diagnoses, repairs, and parts used.
Adhere to all safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Stay up-to-date with the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques. Participate in training and development opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience

Proven experience as a Light Vehicle Mechanic, with a minimum of 7 years of experience.
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of light vehicle systems and components.
Ability to use diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Valid driver’s license.
Experience with a variety of vehicle makes and models.
