Special Education Needs’ Teacher

Role Overview:

The SEN Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they have the necessary tools to achieve academic success. This role requires a commitment to structured lesson planning, individualized learning strategies, and collaboration with colleagues, parents, and support services.

Key Responsibilities

As a Subject Teacher:

Develop and maintain subject materials in alignment with curriculum objectives.
Organize and update subject files as required by the Head of Department (HOD).
Regularly update the scheme of work and teaching units to reflect best practices.
Support the creation of assessment materials, including questions and mark schemes.
Implement the school’s merit/demerit system to encourage positive student behavior.
Engage in regular discussions with parents regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
Maintain professionalism at all times, ensuring a structured, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

As a Class Teacher

Maintain a structured and orderly classroom environment, ensuring students are engaged and focused.
Supervise students in arranging and maintaining an organized classroom setting.
Work closely with year tutors and SEN coordinators to provide necessary support for students with special educational needs.
Identify and communicate problem areas or concerns about students to the Guidance & Counseling department and school management.
Oversee students’ subject choices and provide guidance on academic and pastoral issues as they arise.
Proofread and finalize student reports at the end of each term.
Develop strong relationships with students, keeping records of important personal details (e.g., birthdays) to foster a supportive classroom environment.

Requirements & Expectations

Strong knowledge and experience in teaching students with special educational needs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
