Social Protect Specialist

Duties & Accountabilities: The incumbent would be based in the World Bank office in Abuja with travel across the country as required. His/her main task will be to develop and strengthen social protection systems and programs in Nigeria, with a focus on coordinating and supporting the implementation of activities funded by the new national social protection program. To this end the consultant will take part in the conduct of analytical work, as well as project preparation/supervision work, including missions/field visits related to the pipeline and ongoing projects. The specific roTes and responsibilities are outlined below:
(i) Assist the Task Team Leader (TTL), and the projec teams in the identification, preparation and appraisal of social protection pipeline projects to be financed by the World Bank, with a specific focus on social protection; (ii) Support the development of key documents for policy dialogue and contribute to the discourse on the subject of Social Protection in Nigeria, including providing inputs and support for the development of the Government’s new social protection policy (iii) Carry out any other related technical assessments (including the preparation of analytical pieces and/or technical reports on various aspects of ongoing and pipeline Bank projects) and administrative activities required by the TTL, Practice Manager and Country Director. (iv) Support World Bank colleagues in providing advice to governments to. design and supervise Social Protection projects (v) Support the day-to-day design and implementation support of the national social safety nets program (vi) Provide technical and implementation support to the key implementing agencies of the national social safety nets program Selection criteria:

At least 5 years’ working experience on investment climate, competitive industries, trade or entrepreneurship topics.
Master’s degree in Business, Planning, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or equivalent (candidates with multiple disciplines will have an advantage);
Operational knowledge of project cycle, from preparation to completion
Proven ability in developing high quality technical and analytical work in Trade and Competitiveness.
