Job Summary
We are in search of a meticulous and highly skilled Upholstery Technician to enhance our automobile manufacturing team. The chosen professional will be tasked with constructing, adjusting, restoring, and fitting vehicle interior upholstery components, such as seats, door panels, headliners, carpets, and additional interior trims. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and an unwavering dedication to upholding quality and safety standards.
Oversee a comprehensive range of critical duties, including but not limited to strategic planning, project execution, and cross-functional collaboration to drive organizational objectives forward. Serve as the primary liaison between departments, ensuring seamless communication and alignment of goals across teams. Monitor key performance indicators to assess progress, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective measures as needed. Develop and maintain robust processes to enhance operational efficiency, mitigate risks, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Lead initiatives that support business growth, innovation, and sustainability while adhering to industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities include measuring, cutting, and sewing upholstery materials, as well as installing them in vehicle interiors.
Fabricate, assemble, and install vehicle seats, cushions, door panels, headliners, carpets, and interior trim components with precision and attention to detail.
Inspect, restore, or exchange deteriorated upholstery components and interior furnishings as needed to maintain optimal vehicle condition.
Transform design specifications, operational directives, and engineering schematics into actionable insights.
Operate machinery such as upholstery tools, sewing machines, cutting equipment, and other relevant devices to perform assigned tasks.
Thoroughly evaluate finished upholstery projects to verify adherence to established quality benchmarks and fulfill specified customer expectations.
Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, and Quality Control teams to verify that interior components meet specified fit and finish standards.
Oversee the inventory of upholstery materials, promptly identifying and documenting any shortages to ensure timely replenishment.
Ensure all fabrics, leather, foam, and other upholstery materials are handled and stored correctly to maintain their quality and integrity.
Ensure the workplace remains clean, orderly, and free from hazards, fostering a secure environment for all personnel.
Consistently comply with established safety protocols and follow all manufacturing guidelines and procedures as outlined by the company.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development is necessary. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ is essential. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are a must. Experience with Agile methodologies is preferred. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are also required.
A minimum of SSC/WAEC, NAB TEB, Trade Test Certificate, Technical College Certificate, or an equivalent qualification in Upholstery, Furniture Making, Interior Finishing, or a related trade is required.
A minimum of two to five years of hands-on experience in automotive upholstery, furniture upholstery, or a comparable manufacturing setting is required.
Proven expertise in operating upholstery tools, industrial sewing machines, and precision cutting equipment is required.
Proficient in selecting and working with upholstery materials, including fabrics, leather, foam, and interior finishing techniques.
Demonstrates exceptional precision and meticulousness in executing tasks, with a keen focus on producing high-quality, flawless workmanship.
Proficient in analyzing and understanding technical drawings and specifications.
Proficient communication abilities and a strong aptitude for collaborative work are essential.
Demonstrates strong self-management skills and consistently delivers work within established production timelines.
