Senior System Administrator

Role Summary

The Senior System Administrator is responsible for the regular maintenance, configuration, and operation of computer systems and multi-user computers, such as servers, and ensuring that backups of servers, data, and configurations are performed and kept correctly. The SSA will be responsible for designing, organising, modifying, and supporting the company’s technological systems by ensuring that the optimal uptime and availability, performance, resources, and security of these systems meet the organization’s requirements.

Responsibilities

Responsible for maintaining, configuring, and reliably operating computer systems, networks, servers, and virtualization environments.
Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.
Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing the impact of issues
Manage user accounts, credentials, permissions, access rights, storage allocations, and active directory administration.
Develop and execute accurate and reliable backup and recovery plans for VMs, applications, and databases.
Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
Lead helpdesk support efforts, ensuring all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved promptly with limited disruptions.
Solid knowledge of networking (LAN, WAN, and VLANs).
Track emerging technologies and implement them in the organization.
Secure system integrity from any breaches or viruses and play an essential role in risk-mitigation planning, including safeguards for data, user security policies, and identity management.

Qualifications

Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related discipline.
Candidates must have at least five (5) years of continuous experience in a similar role.
Candidates must have knowledge of Windows and Linux server administration, Active Directory, Virtualization (Hyper V, VMWare), Backup and Replication, Networking, Cloud Migration and Deployment, and Troubleshooting system-related issues.
Certifications in Microsoft, Linux, Backup and Replication Solutions, and Data Center Administration will be a plus.
