The role will drive growth in deposits, lending, transaction banking, and the delivery of other financial solutions while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and the Bank’s risk management framework.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development:
Develop and execute strategic business plans for the South East public sector market.
Source and onboard new public sector clients.
Deepen existing customer relationships to increase wallet share.
Identify opportunities for deposits, lending, and transaction banking solutions.
Drive the achievement of revenue, asset, liability, and profitability targets.
Relationship Management
Build strong relationships with key government officials and decision-makers.
Serve as the primary contact for assigned public sector accounts.
Conduct regular client engagement meetings and business reviews.
Ensure excellent customer service and timely resolution of client issues.
Credit & Risk Management
Structure credit facilities in line with clients’ funding needs.
Prepare quality credit proposals for approval.
Monitor loan performance and ensure timely repayments.
Maintain high-quality loan portfolios with minimal impairments.
Ensure full compliance with the bank’s credit policies.
Revenue Generation
Increase low-cost deposits from government institutions.
Cross-sell treasury, payments, collections, FX, investment, and digital banking solutions.
Drive fee-based income across all assigned relationships.
Deliver sustainable profitability from the portfolio.
Stakeholder Management
Collaborate with Treasury, Corporate Banking, Risk Management, Operations, and Product teams.
Liaise with regulators and government agencies where necessary.
Represent FCMB at government and industry engagements.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure compliance with CBN guidelines and public sector banking regulations.
Adhere to AML/CFT, KYC, and internal compliance policies.
Maintain accurate customer documentation.
Promote strong risk and control culture within the portfolio.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or related discipline.
Master’s degree or MBA is an advantage.
Relevant professional certifications such as ACIB, CFA, ACA, ACCA, or CIBN certification are desirable.
Experience:
8–12 years of banking experience.
At least 5 years in Relationship Management or Corporate Banking.
Strong experience managing public sector clients.
Proven record of achieving sales and revenue targets.
Experience in credit analysis and relationship management.
