Senior Fleet Manager

Job Description

The Senior Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the entire fleet operation for an FMCG and e-commerce business.
This role ensures efficient transportation management, cost control, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence while maintaining high service levels.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in fleet management, logistics, and distribution within fast-paced industries.

Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations & Optimization

Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize fleet utilization, fuel efficiency, and route planning.
Monitor and analyze fleet performance using data-driven insights to improve delivery efficiency and reduce costs.
Ensure timely vehicle maintenance, repairs, and inspections to minimize downtime and maximize fleet availability.
Implement technology-driven solutions such as GPS tracking, telematics, and fleet management software.

Cost Management & Budgeting:

Prepare and manage the fleet budget, ensuring cost efficiency in fuel consumption, vehicle leasing, and maintenance.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and negotiate contracts with suppliers, leasing companies, and maintenance providers.
Monitor fleet-related expenses and take proactive measures to control operational costs.

Compliance & Safety:

Ensure full compliance with local and international transportation laws, regulations, and safety standards.
Implement safety training programs for drivers to enhance road safety and minimize accident risks.
Maintain up-to-date documentation for vehicles, licenses, insurance, and compliance reports.

Team Leadership & Performance Management:

Lead and manage a team of fleet supervisors, coordinators, and drivers to ensure high performance and accountability.
Develop training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the fleet team.
Conduct performance evaluations and implement best practices to improve efficiency and service levels.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:

Work closely with the supply chain, logistics, warehouse, and customer service teams to enhance delivery operations.
Maintain strong relationships with third-party logistics providers, leasing companies, and regulatory authorities.
Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders to resolve operational issues and improve service delivery.

Key Requirements
Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in fleet management, logistics, or transportation, preferably in FMCG or e-commerce industries.
Proven track record of managing large fleets and optimizing transportation operations.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong knowledge of fleet management systems, GPS tracking, and route optimization tools.
Excellent leadership and people management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to drive operational improvements.
Budgeting and cost-control expertise.
In-depth understanding of transport regulations, compliance, and safety protocols.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in Fleet Management, Logistics, or Transportation.
Experience in implementing automation and digital transformation in fleet operations.
Knowledge of sustainability initiatives in fleet management (e.g., electric vehicles, fuel efficiency).
