Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing financial planning & analysis (FP&A) while also managing other core finance functions, including financial reporting, compliance, taxation, and internal controls. As the second-in-command to the Finance Manager, this role will provide strategic financial insights, ensure accurate financial reporting, and drive efficiency across the finance department. The Senior Accountant will also support business decision-making and ensure the financial health of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):

Lead the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
Develop financial models to support decision-making and forecast future performance across key business units.
Provide variance analysis, highlighting key drivers of performance vs. budget/forecast, and work with senior management to address performance gaps.

Financial Reporting & Compliance:

Ensure timely preparation and accuracy of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements).
Oversee regulatory compliance, including tax filings, audit requirements, and financial reporting standards.
Maintain internal controls and compliance with corporate policies and financial regulations.

Business Performance Analysis & Strategy:

Analyze financial and operational data to provide insights into profitability, cost management, and financial trends.
Conduct detailed financial analysis and modeling to support strategic business initiatives.
Collaborate with department heads to monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and business performance metrics.

Treasury & Cash Flow Management:

Oversee cash flow forecast and management, ensuring adequate liquidity for business operations.
Monitor accounts payable and receivable to optimize working capital.
Support investment and financing decisions, ensuring efficient capital allocation.

Leadership & Process Improvement:

Act as the deputy to the Finance Manager, stepping in when necessary to manage departmental operations.
Lead process improvements in financial planning, reporting, and forecasting to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Implement best practices in financial systems, tools, and data management to support better decision-making and reporting.
Mentor and develop junior finance team members, ensuring continuous learning and professional growth.

Educational Qualifications, Experience & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. MBA, ACA, or ACCA is a plus.
5+ years of experience in accounting, financial planning, and analysis, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
Experience working with senior leadership teams and cross-functional departments.
Knowledge of FMCG industry trends and financial best practices.
Proficiency in financial modeling, Excel (advanced level), and financial systems (e.g., SAP, ODOO, Hyperion, Adaptive Insights).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in the food manufacturing industry is highly desirable.
