Job Summary

The primary role of the Reliability & Engineering Performance Engineer is to participate in ensuring that risk-based reliability processes are undertaken in decision-making for the improvement of technical and commercial health of the power generation assets.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Participate in assessing and managing risks.
Participate in defining and managing risk management processes and procedures.
Assist to identify and assess risks arising from power generation activities.
Identify improvements needed to working practices and procedures.
Monitor the progress and impact of improvement actions.
Plan and implement improvements to the quality of AM processes.
Evaluate the effectiveness of process improvements.
Assess asset condition and performance against AM strategy and objectives.
Analyze the progress, impact and effectiveness of asset performance corrective actions.
Identify lessons learned and adjust policies and procedures accordingly.
Identify and monitor relevant legal, regulatory and technical requirements for the safe operation of the plant.
Develop effective policies and procedures to make sure requirements are met.
Assess how policies and procedures are put into practice and provide support.
Investigate the root cause of asset or system failures or incidents.
Make effective use of ‘lessons learned’ information from incidents.
Develop overview reports of risk/opportunity status for management, implement and manage risk management plans utilizing the Company’s risk management standards.
Safeguarding the earning capability of the plant and asset by highlighting the potential impacts on the plant’s performance.
Perform independent research reviews, studies and analysis in support of risk management projects and programmes.
Use risk management tools and processes, to conduct engineering risk evaluation of existing infrastructure.
Assess the risk of core damage and/or loss of primary containment integrity resulting from equipment failures, human errors and/or phenomena such as flooding, fires and other environmental impacts.
Conduct analysis such as process risk mitigation, new technology adoption, and human factors.
Develop and drive a comprehensive technical risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability-related safety risks that could adversely impact personnel or plant operations.
Highlight possible engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other equipment problems relating to capacity, quality, safety, or regulatory compliance that adversely affect operations.
Develop and maintain a repository of technical risk assessments to support risk management planning and strategic decision-making.
Develop and assess the impact of the technical human capital risk such as (knowledge of plant, manpower risk, and training gap risk) and implement the process for regular status reviews.
Conduct Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
Evaluate the reliability potential of alternative engineering designs and solutions.

Data Privacy & Protection:

Implement data protection policies and practices of Egbin Power Plc.
Ensure compliance with the NDPR and other data protection laws, and data protection policies.
Undertake Data Protection Impact Assessment as applicable to curb the risk during data processing operations.

QHSE:

Ensure awareness, understanding and application of QHSE policy and application of departmental objectives
Ensure awareness of the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 &45001:2018) and the implications of not conforming with the requirements.
Understand and identify hazards, risks, environmental aspects and Impacts as it is related to their jobs.

Requirements
The minimum requirements for the role are:
Core Skills:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation or Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 6 years experience in Power Utilities, Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production or any asset-intensive industry; five of which would have been spent in Risk and Reliability Engineering.
Knowledge in Risk and Reliability Management (RRIM)
Independent certification/training by an accredited body relating to Risk and Reliability Engineering e.g. CMRP, IRM, etc.
Knowledge in any two following areas: Maintenance, Operation, Design Engineering, Asset Integrity, and Technical Assurance.

Language skills:

Fluent in English language

Soft Skills:

Computer knowledge
Conversant with usual business suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Awareness of in-house tools: Maximo, etc.
