Recovery Officer

Job Objective

The Recovery Officer is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and monitoring non-performing loan accounts and implementing effective recovery strategies to achieve maximum recovery at minimal cost.
The role requires ensuring compliance with legal frameworks and maintaining ethical recovery standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

Investigate and report fraudulent activities with supporting evidence.
Audit high-risk loan portfolios to detect and mitigate fraud.
Identify and report potential bad loans or defaulting clients, providing solutions and recovery strategies.
Conduct random compliance inspections and report deviations.
Collaborate with Branch Managers (BM) and Relationship Officers (RO) to ensure prompt debt recovery.
Collect delinquent and written-off debts within the designated area.
Conduct spot checks, scheduled visits, and tracking of debtors, including necessary petitions or arrests.
Maintain accurate monthly collections reports and debt status updates.
Consistently reduce non-performing debts through aggressive recovery efforts and viable restructuring options.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or HND in a relevant field.
1 – 3 years of experience in a similar role.

Sound decision-making ability, even under pressure.
Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Effective persuasion and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to liaise effectively with local authorities and legal professionals.
High ethical standards and commitment to integrity.
