Purchase Officer

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Purchase Officer to assist in managing the purchasing and sourcing activities within our operations.
This role will support the Purchase Lead in carrying out field-related tasks, particularly in bird sourcing and bird purchases, while managing third-party partners involved in logistics, cold storage, and other relevant services.
The Purchase Officer will also be responsible for field support, engaging with farmers, and tracking key performance metrics to improve overall operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Purchase Lead in carrying out field-related tasks, with a primary focus on bird sourcing and bird purchasing.
Manage mid-level third-party partners offering logistics, cold storage, and other services essential to Pullus Africa’s operations.
Conduct regular visits to farmers’ locations to provide on-site support and guidance on poultry farming practices, such as breeding, rearing, health management, and disease prevention.
Educate farmers on best practices in poultry farming to optimize their productivity and animal welfare.
Assist the Purchase Lead with any additional tasks related to bird sourcing, logistics coordination, and purchase documentation.
Stay informed on industry trends, market dynamics, and agricultural innovations to identify growth opportunities and improvements within Pullus Africa’s ecosystem.
Track and report key performance metrics related to user acquisition, engagement, and retention, providing regular updates to management.
Support the development of strategies to improve sourcing and purchasing processes, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality outcomes.
Work closely with internal teams and management to ensure seamless operations, particularly in procurement, logistics, and field support functions.
Carry out any additional duties or tasks assigned by the organization to support overall goals and operations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience in purchasing, sourcing, or logistics management, preferably within the agricultural sector.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Familiarity with procurement processes, third-party management, and performance tracking tools.
Must reside in Kaduna.
