Line Manager: Engineering & Projects Manager

Role Purpose

This role will be involved in overseeing project planning, development, and execution from conceptualization through Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) to Final Investment Decision (FID) and project handover.

Accountabilities

Lead the identification and evaluation of project opportunities within the asset.
Collaborate with subsurface, production, and engineering teams to assess the feasibility of new projects.
Develop project maturation strategies that align with the asset’s long-term objectives
Ensure projects progress through the defined stage-gate process (concept selection, FEED, Detailed Engineering, etc.) with all required technical and financial justifications.
Oversee the development of project plans, timelines, and budgets.
Manage project risks, ensuring that potential roadblocks are identified and mitigated early.
Act as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders, including government regulators, JV partners, contractors, and internal teams.
Lead communication with stakeholders to align objectives, expectations, and timelines. • Ensure all project-related documentation and approvals are obtained and maintained • Monitor project budgets, ensuring that costs are controlled, and financial performance aligns with approved funding.
Provide accurate cost forecasts and manage cost variances.
Ensure that all projects are delivered in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. And work closely with HSE teams to embed safety principles in all stages of project planning and execution.

Knowledge & Skills Required

Strong understanding of the upstream project lifecycle, including exploration, development, and production phases.
Familiarity with stage-gate project development processes.
Experience in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial modeling.
Solid grasp of HSE standards and practices in oil and gas operations.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing effectively.

Professional Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical discipline.
A master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is an added advantage.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management within the upstream oil and gas sector.
Proven track record of delivering complex oil and gas projects from concept to execution.
Experience working on Nigerian assets, with a good understanding of the regulatory landscape in the country.
