About the roleTo support Christian Aid’s response to the humanitarian crisis in Nigeria with special focus on the Northeast states of Borno). To support Christian Aid’s and donor funded programmes especially the Nigeria Joint Response Project which are implemented by Christian Aid and partners in the North East. To assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of Christian Aid’s humanitarian response, providing effective and timely support (including capacity building) to partner organisations, enabling them to implement the rapid, effective and principled response to emergencies, and ensuring that this is in line with Christian Aid’s country strategy. To ensure that partners are aware of the Core Humanitarian Standards and subscribe to these standards in delivering humanitarian assistance. Ensure that partners and partner staff adhere to the Code of Conduct. Ensure that partners implement complaints handling and feedback mechanism that ensures beneficiary feedback is addressed.About you
You are required to have a degree in Disaster management, Food Security, Nutrition, WASH or Health Science with at least 3 years progressive experience working in the INGO environment including exposure to field operations in both emergency programmes.
You are required to have experience in emergency relief, rehabilitation, development issues and use of capacity building tools and techniques.
Knowledge of Core Humanitarian Standards, Sphere and Red Cross Code of Conduct, experience with Food and Nutrition Security, WASH, Gender and Livelihood approach in relief and recovery is required.
You are expected to have effective communication skills (oral, written) as well as excellent report writing skills.
The role holder is required to have excellent coordination, good understanding of principles of effective planning and appropriate time management skills.
