Location: Maiduguri, Borno Job Type: Full Time Starting date: As Soon As Possible Direct Line Manager: Warehouse Manager Objective 1

Management of drug supplies for each project according to Action Against Hunger procedure, State Ministry of Health and specific donor guidelines and procedures.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Provide input for international /national orders: draw up the first draft of orders with and under the validation of the Nutrition and Health coordination team following the review of the projects’ standard list and finalize orders based on consumption and future needs arising from the developments in medical activities.
Undertake regular supply of medical commodities to all project sites and health facilities to avoid stock-out and interruption of ongoing activities.

Objective 2

Technical support to Nutrition/Health Program on drug management

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Follow up and analyse drug consumption per site in relation to protocols in force, populate the pharmacy database and ensure compliance with all pharmacy SOPs;
Ensure regular monthly inventory; gather stock indicators, analyse them and prepare the monthly pharmacy Activity Progress Report, pass it on to the Nutrition and Health coordination team, logistic team and program managers. Make recommendations on the risk analysis;
Share in advance information on pending stock-out of essential commodities with nutrition and health coordination team for prompt alternative sourcing to ensure continuity of program activities;
Maintain a global overview of medical stocks in the mission;
Maintain an updated knowledge of best global practices.

Objective 3

Strengthen capacity of staff on drugs management

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Technical support to Action Against Hunger staff on good storage/distribution practices;
Ensure that all persons in the supply team are aware of the specificities of the medical items they handle by raising their awareness/coaching/training them on quality, sensitivity, specificity and the various products’ storage conditions;
Provide training for staffs (both AAH and MOH) on pharmacy management and pharmacy storage procedures (Bin card, stock cards, drug consumption sheets, etc.);
Make regular supportive supervision to all health facilities or mobile sites been supported by Action Against Hunger using the standard checklist and provide technical support to MOH staff on standard practice, make recommendations based on the observed gaps for better programming;
Conduct regular check on respect for GDPs: the layout of the warehouse, storage, product arrangement, reception, distribution and transport. Check with the logistic manager that recommendations are applied.
Identify and suggest specific training need for MOH pharmacy staff.
Guide and support the pharmacy assistant in carrying out his/her daily activities.

Objective 4

Performance Management

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Communicate Action Against Hunger performance standards and expectations to team members which includes ; 10 minutes monthly conversation, 3 months/end of probation performance appraisal and annual/ end of contract appraisal;
Establish performance objectives, provide feedback, identify strengths and areas for professional improvement;
Contribute to the professional development and improvement of team members by providing support.

Internal & External Relationship Internal:

Warehouse manager/Logistic manager: Line manager, exchange of information, coordination;
NUT-H coordination team: technical reference – technical support – exchange of information, coordination;
Program team; Exchange of information, coordination;
Pharmacist: Line management.

External:

SPHCDA, State Nutrition Officer, SMOH: exchange of information, coordination.
LGA Team/ Health facility team: Training, supportive supervision, exchange of information, coordination.

Position Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in stock management and clinical pharmacy.
Fluency in spoken and written English and Hausa language.
Strong sense of organization and attention to details.

Preferred:

Work experience in humanitarian settings and international NGO.
Working knowledge of MS office.
Previous supervisory role.
Previous experience with Action Against Hunger.
