The Packing Plant Operator oversees the seamless and efficient functioning of machinery and processes within the cement packing facility. This position entails verifying that cement is accurately packed, measured, and shipped in alignment with production goals, all while upholding rigorous safety protocols, quality benchmarks, and cleanliness standards.
Oversee and execute critical duties and responsibilities integral to the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. To meet the established packing target of 750 metric tons of cement per twelve-hour shift, ensure consistent productivity and operational efficiency.
At the commencement of each shift, report directly to the Shift Manager to obtain detailed instructions and assigned tasks.
Conduct thorough shift handover and takeover procedures to maintain seamless operational continuity.
Operate packing plant machinery, such as packers and autoloaders, with a high degree of efficiency, ideally utilizing automatic (auto) mode to enhance performance.
Regularly monitor the weight of cement bags to ensure they meet the 50 kg specification, and promptly notify the Supervisor of any discrepancies.
Ensure rejected or damaged (busted) bags are stacked and labeled appropriately in designated areas to mitigate contamination risks and prevent loss.
Ensure the packing area is consistently staffed, and do not leave the workstation unattended while operations are in progress.
Before departing the work area for any reason, secure appropriate authorization first.
Ensure a clean, safe workspace by promptly removing rejected materials and maintaining meticulous housekeeping standards.
Perform systematic equipment inspections and immediately notify the Shift Supervisor or Maintenance team of any mechanical malfunctions or process deviations.
Facilitate seamless communication and a smooth handover process with the incoming operator upon completion of the shift.
Ensure strict compliance with all organizational policies and safety protocols, encompassing ISO Management Systems, specifically Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSA).
Requirements
WAS/GCE/SSC certification or Trade Test I, II, or III in a relevant technical discipline, such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance, is required.
Requires two to nine years of hands-on experience within cement packing, manufacturing processes, or broader industrial operations.
Proficient in interpreting, composing, and adhering to standard operating procedures is required.
Effective interpersonal communication and collaborative teamwork abilities are essential.
Capable of executing both manual and technical tasks with a high level of physical fitness and technical proficiency.
