PA/DHC, IT Support Officer & POLITICAL SECTION SUPPORT DRIVER

Main purpose of job:This is an interesting and varied job in the heart of the British High Commission’s Chancery. The main focus is on providing an excellent level of administrative support to the Deputy High Commissioner and ensuring the smooth running of the bag service and Restricted IT system. There is an additional requirement to give general support to Chancery Officers.Roles and responsibilities:The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties;

PA to Deputy High Commissioner:  Managing diary, arranging transport, replying to invitations, and general office support.  Note taking at Post Security Committee and other meetings.
Diplomatic bags and customs clearance: Sending and receiving UK and Lagos diplomatic bags, including arranging clearance.
Restricted ITSO: To carry out Information Technology Support Officer (ITSO) duties on the Restricted tier in the Confidential area of BHC.
Political Section support: Provide general support to Chancery including drafting Notes Verbale to the MFA, setting up calls, organising networking events etc.
The successful candidate will need to be self-starting, highly organised, flexible and able to work unsupervised to keep on top of the workload and changing priorities. Good interpersonal skills are essential as the jobholder will need to communicate clearly and tactfully, and build close and effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels from across the High Commission, HMG in London, other Diplomatic Missions in Abuja, and with senior Nigerian officials. 

Resources managed:

Manage 2 x part-time A1(L) Chancery Receptionists.
Oversee the DHC’s entertainment and travel budgets.

Essential on arrival:The High Commission is looking for a candidate with previous office experience (at least 4-5 years), with strong IT and technical skills, as well as PA or similar skills.
