Description
The Network Cloud Engineer is responsible for operating secure and highly available computing platforms, servers, and networks. They install, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve the Institute’s operating environment.
They also maintain the ongoing reliability, performance and support of the infrastructure. This includes monitoring the operating environments, responding to incidents, problems and planning for growth. Individuals in this job family are also responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the data center.
Responsibilities:
Design, implement and provide Level 2/3 Support for the switched, wireless and remote access network
Design, implement and administer Enterprise-Wide Area Network including Cisco router, Next Generation Firewall and Unified Threat Management systems
Manage the voice infrastructure, providing Level 2 Support for all voice related problems and advising the business on required system upgrades
Manage relationship with internet/voice service providers and ensuring quick escalations to the provider during service failures; making recommendations to the business on required capacity upgrades
Manage cloud-based infrastructure on AWS, including EC2 Linux/Windows instances, Images, snapshot backups, Software Defined Network and defining Security controls to protect the Organization’s cloud-based infrastructure
Cloud and On-Premises network integration with partners and 3rd party service providers
Mitigation of Enterprise infrastructure security risks and ensuring compliance with best practices
Provide technical expertise to the Help Desk
Work with the legal team to review Service Provider contracts
Performs and analyze periodic health checks
Work with project teams to understand and advise on infrastructure requirements
Any other task as advised by the Head of Information Technology
Requirements:
B.Sc. degree in Engineering, Computer science or Information technology related course
A minimum of 3 years
Relevant certifications / qualifications: Professional Level Cisco and Microsoft Certifications (CCNP/CCDP/MCSE), AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or equivalent are preferred
User support experience is desirable.
Proficiency in managing AWS services, including EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, IAM, and CloudFormation.
Expertise in network design, implementation, and administration, including experience with Cisco routers, firewalls, and VPNs.
Demonstrated ability to optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, cost, and security.
Knowledge of security principles and best practices for both cloud and on-premises environments.
Ability to troubleshoot complex network and infrastructure issues.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
