Metal Fabricator (Abeokuta)

The Metal Work Fabricator is responsible for designing, assembling, modifying, and repairing machinery, equipment, tools and other metal installations in the facility. This role requires expertise in metal fabrication, welding, machining, and blueprint reading to ensure machines are built to specification and function efficiently. The Metal Fabricator will work closely with the maintenance and production teams to improve the system and minimize downtime.

Duties and Responsibilities

Fabrication & Assembly:

Manufacture and assemble machine components using welding, cutting, and machining techniques.
Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to fabricate machine parts accurately.
Operate fabrication tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC equipment.
Ensure all fabricated components meet dimensional and structural specifications.

Machine Modification & Repair:

Modify or repair existing machinery and equipment to improve performance and extend lifespan.
Conduct inspections of fabricated parts to ensure quality, alignment, and functionality.
Assist maintenance teams in troubleshooting mechanical faults and implementing solutions.

Quality Control & Safety:

Inspect fabricated parts and machines for defects and adherence to specifications.
Ensure all fabricated components meet food safety and regulatory standards.
Conduct load tests and performance checks before deploying machines to production.
Adhere to all workplace safety guidelines, including PPE use and proper handling of tools and materials.

Collaboration & Documentation:

Work with the engineering team to develop custom machine solutions.
Maintain accurate records of fabrication projects, including design changes and materials used.
Provide technical support and training to machine operators when necessary.

Educational Qualifications, Experience & Requirements

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in machine fabrication, metalworking, or mechanical assembly.
Hands-on experience with welding (MIG, TIG, Arc), machining, and CNC operations.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in reading blueprints, CAD drawings, and schematics.
Knowledge of industrial machinery and automation systems.
Strong troubleshooting and mechanical repair skills.

Soft Skills:

Attention to detail and precision in fabrication work.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
