Medical Secretary/Cashier (Ebute Meta)

Job summary

The Medical Secretary will perform duties related to case management, which entails being responsible for the wellbeing of the clients and guiding them through the processes and regulations related to their cases. S/he will enhance the quality of patient management, maximize satisfaction, and promote cost effectiveness. The successful candidate will be accountable for the full patient care cycle including assessing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating actions required to meet the client’s health and human services needed.

Responsibilities

Help clients achieve wellness and autonomy.
Facilitate multiple care aspects (case coordination, information sharing, etc.).
Help patients make informed decisions by acting as their advocate regarding their clinical status and treatment options.
Develop effective working relations and cooperate with medical team throughout the entire case management process.
Take the extra mile and interact with patients to keep track of their progress and to ensure satisfaction.
Record cases information, complete accurately all necessary forms and produce statistical reports.
Promote quality and cost-effective interventions and outcomes. • Assess and address motivational and psychosocial issues.
Adhere to professional standards as outlined by protocols, rules, and regulations.
Operating scanners, cash registers, and other related electronics.
Process sales transactions.
Reconciling the cash register and generating reports for credit and debit sales.
Accepting payments, ensuring all prices are accurate and proving a receipt to every customer.
Advising on refunds and exchanges, resolving complaints.
Issue receipts to customers.
Make change accurately and efficiently.
Report issues with equipment.
Report any discrepancies detected in any transactions.
Handle case assignments, draft service plans, review case progress and determine case closure.
Ensure capturing of issued receipt on the organization’s database.
Coordinate and provide care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and client centered.
Ensure capturing of all relevant patient information during registration.

Qualification

BS degree in related healthcare field
Experience working with an EMR would be an advantage.

Technical Competence

Prior experience as a Medical Secretary or similar administrative role
Multitasking and organizational skills
Knowledge of medical coding, medical office procedures, regulations, and medical terminology
Patience and discretion
Familiarity with the basics of bookkeeping
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience working with EHRs, databases and word processing and spreadsheet software.
Knowledge of how to process insurance claims.
