Job Summary
The Market Development Advisor will be required to facilitate the identification and delivery of market development opportunities consistent with PIND’s strategic plan and Economic Development Strategy working with private sector partners and service providers.
Job Responsibilities
Research and analyse specific value chains – agricultural and non-agricultural and identify opportunities for catalysing systemic change in the market system that leads to increase in income for farmers and SMEs in the Niger Delta.
Design pilot intervention projects that will create effective and inclusive markets, develop market linkages, and support appropriate technology-driven development within identified value chains.
Facilitate the implementation of pilot projects to strengthen market systems through ongoing engagement with implementing partners and key market players.
Engage and on-board a wide range of partners/market actors to scale-up successful pilot interventions that strengthen markets systems and improve the productivity and incomes of farmers and SMEs in the Niger Delta region.
Identify, engage and manage quality co-facilitators/ implementing partners to support the implementation of intervention activities and the achievement of project goals and objectives.
Build capacity of BMOs and local implementing partners in market-driven approaches to development.
Communicate with and convince partners/beneficiaries to participate in intervention(s).
Develop quality documents (MOUs, Working Agreements, TORs, Concept notes, Activity briefs, Intervention Justifications, Grant RFPs, Contracts with partners, etc.) that support effective intervention implementation and the achievement of project goals and objectives.
Implement an internal monitoring and results measurement (MRM) system that complies with the DCED standards and supports effective project implementation, generating credible information for impact assessment and reporting.
Produce quality quarterly report that captures and documents the systemic changes emanating from your intervention activities.
In collaboration with the relevant units in PIND, develop and manage a budgetary system that complies with PIND procurement and financial standards, ensuring efficient utilisation of the organisation’s resources to achieve intervention goals and objectives.
Complete other related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
A B.Sc degree in Agriculture, Social Science or any other relevant field of study.
A post graduate degree will be an added advantage.
Knowledge , Skills & Expereince
Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience.
Understanding of technical and institutional issues relating to Niger Delta.
Knowledge of economic and social activities in the region.
Knowledge of agricultural activities in the region.
Proven skills in training, facilitation, technical assistance, course development, coaching and mentoring along a range of capacity development content areas.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge and understanding of the Niger Delta Terrain.
