The Maintenance Manager will oversee the maintenance operations of the factory to ensure optimal performance of all machinery, equipment, and infrastructure.
The role involves managing a team of technicians and support staff, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and implementing proactive and reactive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Planning and Execution
Develop, implement, and oversee preventive maintenance schedules for all machinery and equipment.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing issues, and coordinating quick repairs to minimize production downtime.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
Team Management
Supervise and lead the maintenance team, including training, and evaluating team members.
Assign tasks and ensure proper delegation to achieve maintenance goals effectively.
Promote a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
Operational Efficiency
Monitor and analyse equipment performance to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
Coordinate with production managers to prioritize maintenance tasks based on production schedules and needs.
Ensure spare parts inventory is maintained at optimal levels to avoid production disruptions.
Safety and Compliance
Enforce adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations within the maintenance department.
Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and equipment inspections.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, government regulations, and company policies.
Budget Management
Prepare and manage the maintenance department’s budget, including costs for repairs, spare parts, and labour.
Evaluate and approve purchase requests for equipment and maintenance supplies.
Seek cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or safety.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience (5+ years) in maintenance management, preferably in a plastic manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of plastic processing machinery (e.g., injection molding, extrusion) and auxiliary equipment.
Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is an advantage.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulatory requirements in manufacturing.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
