Job Description
The Department of Public Health at Miva Open University is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Lecturer I or Senior Lecturer.
The successful candidate will hold a doctorate degree (PhD) in Public Health or a related field and will contribute to the academic mission of the university by delivering innovative high-quality lectures, engaging in research activities, and supporting student learning experience.
Responsibilities
Teaching:
Deliver undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Public Health.
Develop and maintain innovative course materials, including syllabi, lecture notes, and assignments.
Foster a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
Research:
Conduct scholarly research in the field of Public Health.
Publish research findings in reputable conference proceedings and journals.
Collaborate with colleagues and students on research projects.
Service:
Engage in departmental and university service activities.
Participate in academic committees and contribute to the development of departmental policies and programs.
Assist in student recruitment and outreach activities.
Professional Development:
Stay current with advancements in Public Health by attending conferences, workshops, and training sessions.
Continuously update teaching methods and course content to reflect industry trends and emerging technologies.
Qualifications
A PhD in Public Health or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
A passion for teaching and the ability to engage students in the learning process.
Demonstrated potential for research and scholarly activities.
Proficiency in relevant programming languages and software tools.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Industry experience in Public Health or a related field.
Research publications in peer-reviewed journals or conferences.
Familiarity with modern pedagogical techniques and educational technology.
Evidence of involvement in academic or professional organizations.
