Position Overview

Sea learn Academy is currently seeking applications from qualified candidates to fill the position with Junior Lecturer in Maritime Studies.

Oversee a comprehensive range of duties, including the planning, coordination, and execution of critical projects, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and adherence to established timelines. Lead cross-functional teams to foster collaboration, drive innovation, and achieve measurable results. Develop and maintain robust processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and accountability across all operational functions. Monitor performance metrics, analyze data trends, and implement strategic improvements to optimize productivity and resource allocation. Serve as a primary liaison between departments, senior leadership, and external stakeholders to facilitate clear communication and resolve escalated issues. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and best practices while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct.

Provide support for curriculum design and the creation of courseware and instructional materials, working in collaboration with senior faculty members.

Guided by senior staff, design and produce instructional materials, and conduct engaging lectures, presentations, tutorials, and hands-on practical sessions covering essential maritime topics, including navigation, seamanship, cargo handling, environmental protection, maritime safety, and associated subjects.

Assist in designing, evaluating, and refining student coursework and examination materials to ensure academic rigor and alignment with learning objectives.

Deliver comprehensive academic assistance to students to enhance their learning experiences and academic performance.

Stay current with evolving maritime industry standards and regulatory frameworks.

Engage in departmental meetings, contribute to academic planning initiatives, support quality assurance processes, and participate in professional development activities.

Participate in academic pursuits and actively seek research initiatives and advanced educational opportunities.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, or an equivalent field is required, with a Master’s Degree—or progress toward one—considered a strong asset.

Requires a minimum of five years of seagoing experience. Must possess a recognized professional certification, such as a Master (F.G.) or Chief Officer Certificate of Competency, issued by a reputable Flag administration. Candidates should have served in a management-level role as either a Master or Chief Officer.

Possesses a certification endorsed by Administration for ‘Train the Trainer’ and/or ‘Train the Simulator Trainer’.

Teaching or training experience, whether gained formally or informally as part of one’s professional responsibilities, is considered beneficial.

Proficient in international maritime regulations, with a strong command of the Standards of Training, Certification, and Watch keeping (STCW) framework.

Demonstrates enthusiasm for advancing academic credentials and actively participating in ongoing professional growth opportunities.

Proficiency in instructional design principles and learning pedagogy will be considered an asset.

Proficiency in utilizing maritime simulators and e-learning platforms is required.

Must thrive in collaborative settings within diverse academic and multicultural contexts, demonstrating adaptability and respect for varied perspectives.

Dedication to upholding exceptional standards in education and fostering a dynamic learning environment is essential.

Exceptional proficiency in communication, interpersonal relations, and presentation delivery is required.

Proven track record in managing Massive Simulation (MASS) initiatives, with hands-on involvement in simulation-driven research endeavors.

Conducts ongoing research initiatives within the maritime sector.
