Position Overview
The Lab Tech 2 role involves performing intermediate-level analyses and testing on crude oil, water, and gas samples to ensure compliance with operational and quality standards.
This position supports key quality assurance functions on the FPSO.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct sampling and advanced analyses, including:
Reid Vapour Pressure testing (ASTM D323).
Sand count/analysis using the volumetric method.
Water content analysis using Karl Fischer filtration (ASTM E203-96).
Physicochemical and microbial analysis of potable water.
Perform quality control on cooling and heating mediums, including tests for TDS, conductivity, and dissolved oxygen.
Monitor hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide levels in gas streams and cargo tanks.
Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments for accurate analysis.
Document and report results to the operations team, ensuring accurate interpretation and recommendations.
Train and mentor junior laboratory personnel (Lab Tech 1).
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, or related field.
Experience: Minimum of 4 – 8 years in laboratory operations, preferably in oil and gas.
Skills:
Proficient in advanced laboratory methods and equipment calibration.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Certifications: Offshore safety certifications (e.g., BOSIET, HUET).
