Description
The Kitchen Assistant provides essential support to the kitchen staff in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen. This role involves a variety of tasks, including food preparation, cleaning, and maintaining a hygienic and organized kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation:
Assisting with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing vegetables and fruits.
Preparing and marinating meats and other ingredients as directed by the chef.
Assisting in the preparation of sauces, dressings, and garnishes.
Ensuring proper storage and rotation of food items.
Kitchen Maintenance:
Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen at all times, including washing dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
Sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning work surfaces, and ensuring all equipment is clean and in good working order.
Assisting with the proper disposal of waste and recycling.
Other Duties:
Assisting with the receiving and storage of food deliveries.
Assisting with the set-up and breakdown of the kitchen for service.
Following all food safety and hygiene regulations.
Performing other duties as assigned by the Head Chef/Kitchen Supervisor.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential.
Basic food handling and hygiene knowledge.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
