Sea learn Academy is actively seeking a highly qualified Junior Lecturer specializing in Maritime Studies to join our faculty.
Ideal candidates will be early-career academics with a strong foundation in maritime studies, coupled with a demonstrated commitment to education and continuous learning.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in delivering top-tier maritime education, provide essential support to senior faculty members, and actively contribute to the academic growth and achievements of students.
Oversee primary duties encompassing the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and deadlines. Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including timelines, budgets, and risk assessments, while coordinating cross-functional teams to foster collaboration and efficiency. Conduct regular progress reviews to identify deviations and implement corrective actions as needed. Serve as a key liaison between stakeholders and team members to facilitate transparent communication and address any arising challenges promptly. Additionally, ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies throughout all project phases.
Collaborate with senior faculty to contribute to the creation and preparation of curriculum and instructional materials, including courseware.
Under supervision, design and produce instructional materials and conduct lectures, presentations, tutorials, and hands-on sessions covering key maritime fields including navigation, seamanship, cargo handling, environmental protection, maritime safety, and related subjects.
Play a key role in designing, evaluating, and refining student coursework and examinations to ensure academic rigor and alignment with program objectives.
Deliver comprehensive academic assistance to students, ensuring their educational needs are met with tailored guidance and resources.
Ensure continuous awareness of current maritime industry practices and regulatory requirements.
Attend departmental meetings, engage in academic planning initiatives, contribute to quality assurance processes, and take part in professional development activities.
Participate in academic pursuits and actively seek research initiatives and advanced educational opportunities.
The ideal candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in the industry. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Familiarity with regulatory compliance and quality assurance standards is also a must. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate adaptability to evolving technologies and business needs.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, or a closely related discipline is required, with a Master’s Degree—or progress toward one—considered advantageous.
Minimum of five years of seagoing experience is required, along with a valid professional certification such as a Master (F.G.) or Chief Officer Certificate of Competency issued by a reputable Flag administration. Candidates must have served in a management-level capacity, specifically as a Master or Chief Officer.
Possesses a certification, endorsed by Administration, specifically for ‘Train the Trainer’ and/or ‘Train the Simulator Trainer’ programs.
Professional experience in teaching or training—whether formal, informal, or integrated into previous roles—is considered beneficial.
Proficiency in international maritime regulations, such as the Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping (STCW), is essential.
A commitment to advancing one’s academic credentials and actively participating in ongoing professional growth opportunities is essential.
Familiarity with educational theory and the principles of instructional design for learning courses would be considered an asset.
Experienced in utilizing maritime simulators and e-learning platforms as part of operational or training workflows.
Demonstrated capacity to collaborate effectively within diverse academic and multicultural settings.

Effective verbal and written communication, along with polished interpersonal and presentation abilities, are essential for this role.
Proficient in leveraging MS Office and various software applications and tools with hands-on experience and technical competence.

A doctoral degree (PhD) in maritime studies, education, or a closely related discipline is required.
A valid Certificate of Competency, issued by a recognized Flag Administration, is required.
Teaching experience within the jurisdiction of a recognized Flag administration.
Recent background involving MASS initiatives, particularly those centered on simulation-based research methodologies, is required.
Conducting ongoing research in the field of maritime studies.
